Card Spotlight: Cat Nap

Hello, Kickstarter!
Now that we are closing in on our goal, we are going to start a new segment here on the page to give you a peek at some of the Cantankerous Cats that inspired our game. To get things rolling, we will start with one of the stand out stories from our deck...

GAMEPLAY TIPS FROM AL:
Cat Nap is one of the basic common cards in the deck. Cats are ALWAYS looking to sneak in a quick nap, and this card reflects that spirit. It is only worth ONE Affection point, but it also comes with the ability to chain off of Event cards. Cat Nap is PURRFECT for sneaking in Affection amidst the chaos caused by an Event card.

BACKSTORY FROM ELISE:
This is probably every cat's favorite activity. The art was inspired by a kitten that Al and I rescued. One day, Al got home from work to find this kitten on his front porch. When Al opened the door, the kitten let himself in like he owned the place!
He immediately proceeded with his tiny feline takeover of Al's living room and our hearts. I took this picture of him napping and had to put him in the game. He now lives with loving Hoomins who named him Fergus. -E

EXTRA CREDIT FROM AL:
This little guy was dubbed "Punkin" when he found us. While he was a great fit in our home, we didn't have room for another cat and did not want him to wind up in a shelter. We escorted him to a local rescue operation called "Clockwork Cature" (Now Geeky Teas) in Burbank. Everyone fell in love with him and he was promptly adopted the following week.

Fergus is also special because he was born with a very rare degenerative disease. We did not learn this until well after he was adopted. Thankfully, the lovely Hoomins who took him in had the means to provide treatment and care for him. He is now healthy, happy, and very active on instagram!

Goodness Gracious, Backers!

We are incredibly close to our goal and we have you all to thank. Everybody on our little team is super excited by the progress and pleased as punch with the response. To show our thanks, we are giving you all an early peek at some new card art from Heather!

While we are pretty sure we are going to make our base goal at this point, we would really love to crack all of those wonderful stretch goals open for you. To that effect, we are working hard on cooking up ways to spread the word about Cantankerous Cats to more people.

The next couple of weeks are going to be very important for cracking those stretch goals. While we prepare our next series of announcements the best thing you can do as our fledgling community is spread the word about our project. If you are excited to see this game happen, let your friends know!

If you are in LA, you can even play the game! We have demo copies on display at Game Haus Cafe in Atwater Villiage and Geeky Teas in Burbank.

Tribute Tiers Sold Out!

Happy 4th of July, everyone!
We are fresh out of our last big contract for the summer and ready to focus on Cantankerous Cats full time. We have a lot of things to share, but for now we will get some biggies out of the way:

***TRIBUTE EDITIONS***
Today's big news is that we are completely SOLD OUT of Tribute Edition tiers. This is amazing news! We will be sending out a formal message for ALL Tribute Edition backers with the requirements for that tier and where to submit their photos.

The sooner we collect your lovely cat images, the sooner we can finish the last seven cards in the deck! Elise is itching to get started and we can't wait to share the progress shots with you. Speaking of progress shots...

Those who have been following us on Instagram ( @menthadesigns )may have noticed we have been VERY active lately. We will be posting most of our progress shots there if you want to see the game art round the finish line.

***ARTIST EDITIONS***
Since the Tribute Tiers moved so quickly, we are dropping the price of the Artist Edition tier to $200. This tier will score you one of the original watercolor/acrylic paintings from the game. This piece will also come framed, just like the Portrait Edition tier.

We are working on some graphics and video clips to illustrate what, exactly, people are signing up for with these premium tiers. Thank you again to all of our wonderful backers. Your faith in our little project inspires us to make the best experience we can muster and we look forward to sharing the journey with you!

Now that Cantankerous Cats is over 50% funded, we are comfortable with granting a frequent request: you can now pre-order up to 3 copies of the Kickstarter Edition!  

To purchase your additional copies, simply add the appropriate amount of money to your pledge: $35.00 USD per copy shipped within the US, or $60.00 USD per copy for international shipping.  

Kickstarter does not allow us to edit reward descriptions, so please ignore the backer limit of 1 in the reward tier.  

We are thrilled that many of you want to make a gift of the game to your friends & family!

Starting next week, we will begin looking into more efficient international shipping options. We’ve received a few recommendations from backers and design colleagues, and we will make an announcement if we uncover a more amicable solution for our international backers.
